Three Energy Management Tools

Ashley Halligan, an analyst at Software Advice, recently shared an article with us about energy three energy management applications.

One is Melon, a web app that links to the Green Button Initiative launched earlier this year by the White House.

Green Button encourages utilities to easily make building energy use data available users, either via a download or via a connection to ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager. The Melon cost is expensive, as much as $500 per building. And so far, only six utilities have gotten on board with Green Button, but more are committed to doing so.

Importantly, for those of you engaged in a project that is supported by our Energy Stewards web platform, you are already receiving the benefits of an automatic link to ENERGY STAR’s Portfolio Manager!

The other two applications reviewed are more specifically focused, come at less cost, and are designed for use in Apple iOS devices.

  • HVAC ASHRAE 62.1-2010 ($19.99) measures air quality and minimum ventilation rates.
  • ecoInsight (free) is an energy audit tool for the Apple iPad.

More detail and links are available in Halligan’s blog post. Thanks sharing it with us.
